Lesson 3 will be adding layer style to text...

Remember to do lesson 1 & 2 before this one

Stroke...

(Thanks NewAtThis , I had no idea you could do this on elements)
1st go to layer>Simplify Layer. Then go up to Edit>Stroke Outline Selection... a box will pop up where you can add stroke

Outline... Layer & Effects , Effects, medium outline, or another one

adding bevel
Layer & Effects, layer styles, bevels

also by going to ...
Layer & Effects, layer styles, and instead of going to bevel you can choose drop shadow, neon glow, inner and outer glow...

To pass this level .. Make a blinky with text that has at least one layer style or stroke! and you get this....

this lesson was kind of easy so Im sure you all will pass

stroke rocks on Photoshop but I havent found a way to do it on elements.. there may be a way... I dont know it if there is one...[/b]
I know how to add a stroke in elements. I did a white stroke around the word "adorable" in my siggy, but it can be done in any color. First, highlight the text layer and go to Layer>Simplify Layer (or you can get to it by right clicking on the text layer in the layer palette). After you've done this, the text can't be edited so make sure it's how you want it. Then go up to Edit>Stroke (Outline) Selection... and a box will pop up where you decide how big you want the stroke, what color, inside or outside, etc. The one in my siggy is only 1pixel wide along the outside, just enough to make it stand out from the pic behind it. You can make it as big as you like though. Hope that helps!

I'll do this lesson tomorrow. Off to bed now!

I will have to do this today too. I figured out the stroke yesterday, but it didn't look right. It was all fuzzy, I must have done something wrong.

I tried this today, but still didn't seem to work for me. I will try it on larger text tomorrow.

Your blinky looks good. I'm not sure about elements 2.0, is it set up the same?
