On Thursday morning I woke up about 3:30 AM to go potty, thninking I was having BH. After about an hour of trying to go back to sleep and realizing they were getting more intense, I woke up DH to let him know, then told him he could go back to sleep. Um, yeah, right. So considering that I was only 37 wks, 3 days and not everything was done, he decided to finish putting the crib together while we waited. After I vomited I decided it was the real thing and had DH call my MW. She got a speeding ticket getting to the birthing center, whereas DH thought of all these things we needed at the last minute, so she could have taken her time! We got there about 7 AM. When my MW checked me I was already 100% effaced and 6 cm dialated, -1 station. While I walked to bring the baby down, DH ran to the store for drinks and snacks. At 8 AM she checked me again and I was 8 cm and 0 station. Good thing, too, because just as she finished her check, my water broke and I went to a 9 almost instantly. DH called my mom (who has gone back to college, so she got to miss a math quiz. She was literally walking in the door for it when DH got a hold of her! ) so she headed over. I was getting in the tub at this point. SOOOO GOOOOD! It felt so good to get in the tub! A little after 9 AM I started feeling the urge to push. Poor DH! After a couple pushes I stood up for a little bit to have some help from gravity, so I was hanging on DH, who had just gotten over a messed up back. Guess what I did. Yep, I messed up his back again. Not as badly, and to his credit he never dropped me! Anyway, I started getting tired, so I got on my knees and leaned on the edge of the tub with my upper body. Finally I could feel the top of her head! After pushing a little longer, she finally crowned! The official time recorded was 11:19 AM. DH got to catch her in the water, then he pushed her between my legs so I could pull her out of the water. She was very alert and kept looking around! While I waited to deliver my placenta we tried to nurse, although she wasn't immediately interested. After the cord stopped pulsing and the placenta came, DH cut the cord, then went with her to be weighed and measured while I cleaned up. She weighed in at 7 lbs. 12 oz. and was 20" long. She also got to meet her Grandpa, who couldn't have been more proud! After we got settled in the recovery bed, she starting suckling like a champ! We got checked out at around 2 PM. No drugs, no lacerations. Everything I wanted! I will post pics as soon as I have them!

The world today is upside down because there is so very little love in the home, and in family life. We have no time for each other. Everybody is in such a terrible rush, and so anxious…and in the home begins the disruption of the peace of the world. -Mother Teresa~
