I just talked to the accupuncturist...she is AMAZING!!!! She spent so much time on the phone with me, was very empathetic. Totally knows her stuff when it comes to infertility, knew what all my levels meant, asked specific questions on whether or not certain things have been looked at (progesterone, FSH, etc). I told her how depressed and stressed I've been and she said she believes this plays a large part in infertility, that the adrinal glands pump out hormones and stress inhibits a lot of that. After hearing everything about me, she said "We ARE going to get you pregnant norina"...I had to choke back tears. Her rates are so much lower then I was anticipating...still a bit of $$ but worth it. plus she asked if I have any pain management problems...I told her my lower back hurts me quite often and so she said if my insurance will cover it she will bill them under "pain management"...AWESOME! She said she knows how much infertility tests and procedures cost and so she'd feels fine with billing and treating my back pain in conjunction with the infertility stuff! My first appt w/her is Monday the 26th!

So I'll let you all know how it goes. I have a good feeling about her

That's AWESOME, Norina! I'm so glad you have yet another professional working towards your miracle. Between appointments with her and your RE, you're going to get that baby. I just know it!

hey...
I just wanted to let you know that I had many treatments while I lived in Asia and they did wonders for my PCOS and regulating my period...
I went to him originally for back pain...He took a look at my back and told me (well told me thru a translator) that I had ovarian cysts--without me telling him anything....I'm a believer....
Hopefully you can get it billed and you won't have to pay....that would be awesome!

Oh hun - I couldn't be happier that she was able to make you feel hopeful. I really hope she can also get your insurance to cover this too - as it is so expensive to go through all of this. I can't wait to hear what you say once you actually start treatments!

Norina,
Please let us know how it goes!!! I've been considering it myself. I know my Chinese friends swear by it for infertility (great for the tx of hormonal issues especially). They have also said it is wonderful for healing your body after a m/c, but results for prevention of m/c are only good if the cause is hormonal. That's why I was meaning to go, but never did. Seeing how we are already TTC I'm not sure if I should go now or not. Maybe if I get a BFN I should go and see what they say. The other problem is that was recommended to me is 2 hrs from my home. I'm trying to find an acredited person closer to home. Long story short.....could you please post a reply here once you've gone? That way I'll be sure not to miss a post about your visit. Oh and she is 100% right about stress hormones and infertility. You should google cortisole levels and infertility (its linked to early m/c as well)

Good luck!!!

Erica- thanks for your reply. I will definitly let you know how the appt goes on Monday. I also bought a book called "the infertility cure" that has a lot of good info about accupuncture, diet, stress, etc and it's effects on fertility. I am really looking forward to my appt.

That definitely is a good book. Its what has gotten me looking more towards alternative medicine.

Norina,
Look what I found right here in the city I live in http://www.ivfacupuncture.com/index.html I'm calling monday. They specialize in infertility and IVF, but also mention that getting pregnant is only the first step and that preventing pg loss is just as important, so I'm hoping they will treat me (and that I can afford it.)
Can't wait to hear about your apointment mon.

O/T: my email notification from JM isn't working. NOt sure if it is a JM problem or if my email host is filtering them out. Very annoying.

Erica

Erica- That's great! did you get an appt? I had to reschedule mine because I got really sick. Starting to feel better, though so hoping to get in soon. She told me to call tomorrow to actually reschedule the appt because I missed her call last night. I'll still be sure to update though when I get in. Looking forward to hearing about your experience too!

Steph- that book is amazing! I am only into chapter 3 and already I see so many things out of sync in my body that I would have never noticed otherwise. Also got me to give up coffee, which is a HUGE sacrifice

I don't know what's going on. I keep trying to call them and I also sent an email, but I can't get ahold of anyone. They don't have voicemail and there's been no answer. I have talked to a could other acupunturists though. I'm just a little reluctant because of the cost. It would end up being over $1,000. Of course it would be worth it if I had a healthy baby, but in the meanwhile I had an apointment with the perinatologist and he seems to think he can hlep. I'll post more about it on another thread. So I'm considering giving Western medicine one more try. Still let us know how is goes when you do end up going.
