Last week my blood pressure starting going up un-expectantly. So they are monitoring me for pre-eclampsia. I have really bad swelling but luckily no protein in my urine. I had a nonstress test (NST) performed last week Friday and again today and both tests the baby did great. I also had a sonogram this past Monday to check on the growth of the baby and he's measuring right on track - estimating 7.5 lbs. Wow! My next doctor's appointment is Monday (8/18) and we'll do another NST and sonogram to check on the baby. The doctor has essentially said that if protein shows up in my urine then we're going to induce right away. Until then, they'll bring me in 2x/week to check on me and the baby. So far so good though.

Other good news, he checked my cervix today and I'm 1.5 cm dilated and 70% effaced! He said I'll probably have the baby in a week or so. It could be a little longer but he doubts it will be after my due date. I'm so excited! I can't believe he's almost here. After everything we've been through, I'm still having a hard time believing a pregnancy can actually result in a baby. I cannot wait to hold him in my arms.

And I'm not sure if I've told you all, but we've decided to name him Owen Royce.

I'm sorry you're having some issues with swelling and your BP, but you know it's all worth it in the end so I don't even have to say it!

I LOVE his name! OMG... Owen Royce it's like something out of a Jane Austen novel! sigh... lovely choice!

I am sorry about the BP issues but I have to admit I was glad I had a reason to go to the Dr twice a week for the last few weeks! It is so reassuring to be monitored that closely. Good luck and I hope you go on your own before the BP gets out of control!! How exciting!!

How exciting that you will be holding your baby so soon! Sorry to hear about your BP, but I agree with April, it is so nice to be reassured with the tests a couple of times a week- I went through that when I was p/g with DD. Hopefully you'll make it to delivery without having to be induced.

Well I am not sure if it will reassure you or not but you are sounding a bit like I did at the end of my pg. My BP went up quite a bit & I swelled up, but since I have low BP to begin with they weren't too concerned....although they did keep an eye on it. I went to the Dr on Monday & was told I was dilated to 2 & 80% effaced & that it could still be a week or two & then I had him Weds morning....so you never know! Hopefully Owen will make his appearance soon & you won't have to worry any more about that BP!

I went back & found my Feb 26th post (about 2 weeks before Ds was born). MY BP went up & then went up a little more. I know these #'s don't sound bad, but they were much higher than I have ever had before then...
Quote:
All seems to be well. I was a little alarmed to hear my BP was 128/85 - but the Dr said it was fine. I slept horrible last night - so I got maybe 3-4 hrs total & that is being generous. Then right before my appt I gagged myself with my toothbrush & then ended up heaving forever. he said the combo most likely ramped up my BP a bit & even if not it is still in acceptable range. It's real high for me though - as I am usually more around 100/60. With the swelling I have to admit it makes me a bit nervous.

Wow! It's almost time! I bet it is nice to get the twice a week monitoring. The BP thing is a little scary but with what we've all been through its small potatoes! I am so excited for you and I adore the name Owen.
