The dandelion is a healthful, great tasting weed you can eat by Carol Williams Issue #44
How to Eat a Dandelion | eHow.com

What I'm confused on, is when to pick them? What does it mean "go to seed" and how do we tell when it's gone to seed? I'm still a beginner w/ all this planting stuff! LOL!

It's AMAZING that the dandelion has so much nutrition and here people are killing off this lovely plant as a weed, imagine that!

You can make wine, coffee, salads out of it. Used in pharmaceuticals? Pills are synthetic forms of the plants and herbs we have growing on Earth!

when they start making the white fluff, that's gone to seed. You want to pick the baby leaves, ideally before any blossoms grow for best taste. And YES, I make a salad out of my yard!!

yes, exactly!!!! Not only that, but the plants have many parts working synergistically together whereas the pharmaeutical industry focuses only on 1 tiny part of the plant - and they wonder why there are side effects to modern medicine pills . . . they're missing a big part of the equation!!!!

HUGE part of the reason I love Dr. Christopher's stuff (that, and their stuff really works!!)

My SO has told me about dandelion tea and how its supposedly amazing for colds. He learned about it from a native. He says it tastes like crap, but it works. Never tried it myself.

I can imagine it can taste pretty bitter, but there's a saying about bitterness and getting rid of negative things in our body, I wish I could remember it!

I have question... what do you do to ensure you don't get sick off of the weeds because you have a dog that uses the yard as a toliet... should you pick just from another location in the yard or use the front yard?

often dog urine will kill whatever it touches . . . but to be safe I usually pick from an area I know Lola hasn't been in. But that doesn't guarantee some other animal hasn't peed on it! I rinse everything really well.

Num num num.....

Tried it tonight for the first time. Only had 5 of them, not really in season yet! Egg, flour, salt and pepper, fry for 30ish seconds and voila. They tasted amazing! I'm so excited about them coming up all over the place

What if you don't have a yeard? Do they sell them in health food stores?
