I have very dry skin on my face and it gets worse in the winter... The skin on my body gets dry too and hurts when clothes rub against it.
My hair is super frizzy in the winter unless I use conditioner.
I have commercial deodorant (I don't have any baking soda or cornstarch to mix with coconut oil to make my own stick) that I use sometimes, but I hate it (chemicals). I have a crystal deodorant stick, but I find I have to use it often during the day to be effective.
So, since I have this huge tub of coconut oil I decided one night to just try it as a face moisturizer and as a straight deodorant.
I'm in love! My face instantly stopped itching and it didn't feel oily and yucky like I was afraid it might. Same for the deodorant. There is no body odor and my arms don't feel yucky either.
So, I tried it around the hip area as a moisturizer and voila! Instantly better. Loving my coconut oil...
I just looked up to see if others have done this and apparently it's normal to use as a moisturizer. There's also great benefits in using it on your hair too, which I will try soon!

A lot of the moms on babycenter use it as a moisturizer, I haven't tried it but I have heard it works great. The weird thing is that some people say it made their dry skin worse, I don't know why it is different for some though.
