I`m with you girls! I do not like the name "Cougar" at all. It reminds me of a car or a wild cat. If we are blessed with a Son someday....He will NOT be named Cougar!

John also likes the name BUCK!
That is another No-No!

I was afraid to post my thought but I do not like it either. I am glad you decided not to use that name.

I used to babysit for a little boy named Buck. Amazingly enough, he managed all of his school years without being teased.

I personally wouldn't do Buck either... ick! I do however, think Cougar is kind of neat. Maybe for a middle name, though.

Here's my thoughts on it. If you don't like the name and dh really does, how about use it for a middle name. With my last dd, dh wanted to name her Denise. Although, I didn't hate the name, I really didn't like it either. So we decided to use it for a middle name. I love her name now - Megan Denise. It fits perfectly to her.

My second thought is on this, if you both like the name then go for it. Who cares what anyone else thinks. With my ds, number 3, I found the name Kaelan. I liked it. EVERYBODY hated it. I tried hard to find another name I liked, but my head/heart was stuck on this one. His name is Kaelan now. I love it. I am happy with it and it has grown on everyone else. It is my favorite name of all my kids.

If you like it go for it, if you don't use it for a middle name.

Teresa

Well I'll tell you what we do for every name we consider for a baby. And that is think of every possible way they can be made fun of. We look at the initials and everything. I wanted Jack, and the first thing my husband said was no way he'll be called jack off. So that was the end of that. His name is blaze, and he was teased constantly as a child so he is very sensitive to it. Cougar may open up lots of avenues for teasing so you might want to think about that.

blaze wanted Leon for Nikolas cause it was his grandfather's name. I do not like it at all, but I was ok with it for a middle name. And since it was his grandfather's I didn't feel like I could put up much of a fight.

Johns middle name is Leon too. After his Dad.
I wouldn`t mind using it for a middle name. I named my 3 kids. Their Dad was ok with me naming them. If we are lucky enough to have a child together. I want John to help pick the boy name.....But, I have to like the name too.

Cougar reminds me of John Cougar Mellancamp..remember when he was just john cougar?

Before Ben was born, we called him Jagger and told the kids that's what we were going to name him. We didn't want to tell anyone Ben's name before he was born.
