Not sure if someone was playing a joke or not. I was at work. All the dining services aids were going home for the day. This was Sunday. Until supper time it was to be only me the cook in the kitchen working. Dinner time on Sundays only one aid comes in and a assistant supervisor go pass out the supper in assisted living building where I work. The regular apartment residents dinner is not available. Since we do brunch on Sundays. The phone rings in the kitchen. It's a number not in the phone book. But I know it was an outside call. As if the phone actually ring not beeps as it does when it's from somewhere else in the building or another dept. calling, it's a outside call. It sounded like a woman. The voice almost sounded familiar like a coworker possibly. I said hello H.W. kitchen. The person says how's it going tramp. I said who is this? I heard some background noise then they hung up. The phone never rang again all afternoon at work. I kept thinking it sounded like this one nurse to assisted living. But then again figured it was a wrong number. Someone was looking for someone else. I sounded like the someone else they were looking for.

I would have probably ignored it. If it happens again, I would bring it up to your supervisor.

I wouldn't worry about it either.

I mentioned it to my supervisor. Not in a upset way. In a joking way. Said this was a bizarre call. Then told her about it. I said it was mostlikely a wrong number. but what was bizzare the voice sounded so familiar. It didn't offend me. I've gotten weird calls before. Someone insisted our number was one of the local high schools. Or thought we were some other business. I just tell them you miss dialed your number. This is the kitchen of H.W. retirement community. Not this high school or that business. Or I get people calling for employees not in the food service. I tell them how did you get a direct dial number to the kitchen. That person does not work this dept. Please call the main building number. A desk person can connect you to the right dept. Like a bank wanted a housekeeper.
