Last night my best (girl) friend in the entire world called me last night, very upset. You know how when you answer the phone you just *know* it's bad news on the other end? Well, I just knew when the phone rang. She and I have a connection like that.

Anyhow ... Before she broke down crying, she managed to tell me that her boyfriend, one of my very good friends, has cancer.

Skin cancer, at 20 years old.

She'd been nagging at him to get this mole checked out on his upper back/neck/shoulder area ... finally, after 6 months he did a biopsy just to make her happy.

And it's cancer.

Fortunately, it is not aggressive skin cancer, and thank God for that. He won't have to go through radiation or chemo therapy (at least for now). He is scheduled to get the mole thing removed on Wednesday or Thursday, and hopefully this will be the only treatment he will have to go through. I am hoping that it is.

I am just so shocked and devastated. I haven't talked to him, yet ... my best friend he is handling it better than she is, LOL.

So please keep my good friend in your thoughts and prayers, and I will keep you all updated.

Thanks ...

Well God willing he will be fine. My GreatGrandpa (the only person I know that had skin cancer) got it removed from his ear when he was in his early 50's and he was with us till he was 87. I will keep him in my prayers though.

I had a malignant melanoma removed in April (?, march? LOL). It was a thin layer (as best as you can get with a melanoma).

wanna know the only question that I asked the dermatologist?

WILL I HAVE TO QUIT NURSING?

I swear, I wasn't as shocked as I should have been. They went in and removed another cm of tissue surrounding the first section that they removed. Let me tell you ... that 2nd incision hurt worse than sex after an episiotomy!!! All is well. I just had my 2nd mole/lymph node check since the excision. I have to go every 3 months for a year and beyond that, I have no idea.

I'll send P&PT to your friend. It's definitely scary to hear those words.
