Hi,, I was in the room with my dd and her husband when she had Chase.
It was one of the best moments in my life !!
Her husband was up near her head holding her hand, I quietly stayed in the background.
During her labor & delivery, she really just wanted to know I was there.
Her husband was her coach which was ok by me.
Location: near the Barossa Valley in South Australia
hello there.....I was in the room with krista (kristaluvstim) when she has Tahnee and I cut the cord it was so good to see her deliver ....then on April 21st I was asked by my youngest daughter Amanda to be with her........I saw my grandson ..Zac Anthony be born......What an experience it was to see 2 of my 3 grandchildren born........I would be there again if I could be
I'm a "daughter" who had her "mommy" in the room with me when I delivered.
I had my DH, my 17 y/o daughter, my 14 y/o son and my Mom was there as well. It was an AMAZING experience and I had all of the people that I love the most in the same room together with me; which gave me the support and encouragement that I needed.
I had a completely 'natural' birth....no meds what so ever...and I put part of this down to having my family around cheering me on, continually telling me that I could do it; (even when at times I thought I couldn't).
I'd say if your Daughter or DIL or whatever, has asked you to be in the room...take the chance and be there!!! My Mom "still" talks about the experience, (3 months later), and continually tells me what an honour it was for her to experience this with me.
It also helped to know that someone with experience, (my Mom is a retired RN), was by my side also, keeping me calm and helping me to focus!! VERY IMPORTANT!! Especially since this was DH's first baby, (my other older kids' are from a previous marriage), and he wasn't sure what to do as far as helping me to focus on my breathing and what not.
