Hi there!
I am a college student and I am writing an essay for my English class. I chose the topic of early sexualization in children, and I would like to get views from both sides of the trend. I've decided to ask JustMommies because I would love mothers' opinions on this topic.

Also, I wasn't sure where to put this so I just put it in this forum. Hopefully I'm right!
If you don't know, mall stores and even Target are selling short shorts to kids. These shorts are usually worn by teenages (even they wear them too short), but now more and more companies are producing them. Even Playboy once made pencil bags with the bunny logo, and in 2002 Abercrombie made thongs for 10 year olds. Bratz dolls not only sport short shorts, but also short skirts, and they often use beauty as the most valuable trait a girl can have. I am writing about how the media and retailers are encouraging this dangerous trend, as the "effects of early sexualization include emotional distress, anxiety, low self-esteem, eating disorders, disrupted school life and depression" as stated in article in the Daily Mail called “Watchdog attacks store bosses over ‘sex kitten’ products targeted at young girls.”
My questions to you moms:
-Do you let your children wear short shorts? Why or why not?
-Why should a girl wear clothing that are "too old" for them? Should there ever be a reason?
-Is a mother irresponsible to let her child wear clothing that are trendy but risque?
-What articles of clothing should a child never wear before they're teenagers?
And any other comments/opinions on this issue would be helpful. Thank you so much for your time and I can't wait to hear your responses. This will definitely help my essay!
