Sorry girls, I'm not a cat lover.. i hate cats actually (lol)

But my friend is DESPERATE for an answer to this....

Her cat fancys her daughters room.. and if they don't shut her door, the jealous cat goes in there (female) and pees all over the carpet and anything that might be laying on the floor...

SOOO.. My question is.. What takes out cat urine/smell?

She tried using her carpet shampooer and I guess it just made the smell worse!!!

I can't answer your question, but you should post over in the pets forum. We've got some cat lovers who probably know the answer to that. (link in my siggy) I've used oxyclean in a carpet steamer (not shampooer) to get dog odor out.

That is a tough one because that smell is really hard to get rid of! We have a cat and in our old house she peed in a room and we couldn't get the smell out and we treid using just about every product we could think of. Turned out it soaked through to the wood below. It was in the corner so we lifted up the carpet and had to put some sealer on it (it was white, don't know really what it was called) so that the smell would be contained in the wood. It is horrible! I'm a cat lover but their pee is a whole other thing. Yuck!

I had a cat like that. We bought in the baby department something called Totally Toddler. It is to take out smells such as vomit, urine, etc. We usually sprayed that on it and then put some Lysol in a bucket of hot water and took a scrub brush and scrubbed the heck out of our carpet. It gets frustrating but no one can ever smell we have cats. My best friend was asking me the same question because she said her neighbor's house REEKED of cat urine but knew ours didn't. I wish her luck!
Thank you KimberlyD0 for my absolutely beautiful siggy!

I use s product called OUT! Pet Stain and Odor Remover....you can buy it at walmart. It takes the smell out and actually smells pretty good. I also see that there is a product out that is called Urine Gone. It's one of those seen on TV products and I think you can buy it at Walgreens now.

ive done the urine gone, and it didnt work very well, imo...

one of my cats did the same thing to my 8 year olds room, aI made BUCKETS of oxyclean....made it with like 3 times the amount of powder that they call for, and just totally saturated her entire carpet...waited awhile (couple of hours) went in w/ towels nad set up fans to dry the carpets.

it worked...lol

I've heard that vinegar will take away the smell of it! I've never tried it so I don't know from personal experience but it's supposed to help.
