Do you talk to babies in "baby talk" or do you talk to them like they are a big kid?

Does it drive you insaine when someone talks to your child all gibberish baby-style?

I don't mind when someone is playing with my son and they talk baby-talk.. it does kinda rub me the wrong way when they are just being "normal" and they start talking all highpitched and gibberish...

What about you guys?

Becky

It only bothers me when someone talks in a high pitched baby voice to me. My mom does that sometimes. GRRRR!

It really depends on my mood! I don't talk the typical baby talk--aren't you just so cutiesy wootsy... but I wouldn't talk to anyone else the way I do to him! I hate it when my Mom is talking to me about Troy and is talking all cutesy--um, he's not listening, I am! Talk normal!

Nothing really bothers me as long as they aren't trying to teach him bad words. I talk to him in baby talk all the time. I do that with my dogs as well. I love watching Lex's face when I talk to him like I would talk to any other adult. He just doesn't get it, he'll stare at me. But when I use baby talk, he loves it!

The high pitched thing bugs me, too - oh - and why do people think they have to turn up the volume as if talking to an 80 year old man? This is a baby! His ears are better than yours, so I'm sure he could still hear your gibberish if you'd mind going outside to do it!

I liked imitating the sounds they made, when they were babies. They loved it, too! Sometimes, I did it, and sometimes I talked normally.

I didn't talk baby talk with Jas. I'm not really sure if her father or his family did/do.
