I'm not sure where to put this but my friend is having a baby shower on the 17th, this sunday. I haven't been able to get something for the shower. I won't be able to get something until 2 weeks from now. I do wanna go cause I'm adopting my friend's baby as my neice but I don't wanna up empty handed. I feel awful that I can't get something right now. I tried calling my friend to tell her what's up but no answer just yet. And then I have no idea of what I wanna get for the baby. I'm not feeling like a good Aunt this year, I won't be able to get my nephew something until after christmas. It's just so awful

It's the thought that counts girlfriend! NOBODY is going to know that you didn't bring a gift unless YOU make a big deal out of it....
I'm sure your friend understands your circumstances.... Maybe you could get creative and print out coupons, OR Color your own.. And they'd be for FREE things like: 1 homecooked meal, 1 day of babysitting, 1 day of household chores... You get the picture...

It doesn't have to be about money.. She needs more support then physical objects!

The important thing is that you show up. She'll understand. The day means much more than the gift in many ways.

Thanks all for the input. I finally talked to my friend and explained. She told me that I didn't need to get her anything, but I told I will still. She wants me to come and I promise her I would. It starts in a hour from now.
