When I was young we had two turkeys, a male and a female. We lived in a residential area in the city also. But they werent too noisy. They walked side by side EVERYWHERE. The neighbors loved them. Then one day the male came up missing. The poor female turkey walked all over the place calling for her mate in a very sad, terrified tone. Found out later a neighborhood cat got him. We ended up giving the female away. They were so cute.

The person we gave her to lived in the country and had some turkeys. I think thats where we got them from in the first place. Anyway, at least she made some new turkey friends after she lost her mate. I felt so sad and helpless for her when it happened.

The strangest pet we probably ever had when I was a child was a squirrel...

Now, we only have dogs & cats, so nothing too strange.

NO strange ones for us, just guinea pigs (had to give her away though, I became allergic) and two dogs.

I used to have turtles as well but I didn't consider them to be really strange

when I was little though I used to have three blue crabs! LOL

I refused to have anyone kill and eat the crabs so I took care of them
