We went to my inlaws on Monday for gift exchange and a visit and it was actually pleasant! I am still in disbelief! They were both nice and talkative and pleasant to be around for a change. No awkwardness or anything....it was a nice change in their attitudes! Now, if it will just stick I may not go into panic attacks when I have to be around them

Glad to hear yours wasn't too bad!
Oddly enough, my Christmas with the inlaws wasn't as bad as it has been in the past. My MIL was a weirdo and kept making super uncomfortable sexual comments. But from her, nothing is out of the ordinary. My FIL and his wife weren't that bad and thankfully they didn't buy a ton of stupid gifts for the baby (besides the full size fishing pole the baby can't use for 10 years!) It wasn't that bad though. Unfortuately next year I have to spend Christmas day with the inlaws....kind of depressing!

I'm glad that it went so well! Yay! I had no issues this year as we didn't see my ILs. They sent our gifts and while they did buy us a couple things that were not so much our style they did buy us a new digital camera and accessories for it that was really nice so that made up for the ugly necklace, stinky candle, singing bear and I forget what DH got but it was wierd. They also got Sam some nice toys and books, I got a pretty blouse, and DH got a Best Buy gift card.

I was away with the ILs this vacation and it wasnt bad at all. I figure if DH and I are strained, then MIL especially goes for my juggular..... like i am responsible for her poor darlings unhappiness....

lol, she should only know the repressed anger my Dh has....it all came out last week. he feels guilt but a lot of our issues stem from unresolved issues with her

irony!!!
