OUR relationship is ok. We have learned over the years how to handle each other. Well she at times continues to be overbearing, but I have also learned to take what she says like a grain of salt. My DH has a very surface relationship with my parents, but so do I.

Chris gets along fabulously with my family. I hate... LOATHE his family (mother and brothers, his dad and extended family are nice )

Yes on both counts. Due to some chaos and a lot of misunderstanding, it didn't start out that way, but we're all in a much better place now.
