What is the tackiest gift you ever recieved from an in-law?

I would have to say a robe from victoria secrets....like I can really feel sexy in it knowing where it came from?

A pregnancy test in my Christmas stocking (before we were even close to TTC).

Satin bikini panties that spelled "bride" in rhinestones across the front (at my bridal shower).

Satin bikini panties that spelled "I Do" in rhinestones across the front (also at my bridal shower).

("I do" WHAT?)

My MIL never asks what any of us might want or need and she buys us stupid and useless presents all the time!

My mil is always picking up junk from dollar stores. One of the dumbest was something she got my son. When he was 6 months old she got him a CARE BEARS PUZZLE!!! And it was for ages 6 and up, and very girly! I threw it away. I can't wait to see what she gets for his 1st birthday!

I almost forgot. For Christmas last year I got a plastic giraffe!!! The next time I went to wal-mart I saw them in a bin and I had to look. It cost 88 cents! If that wasn't bad enough...I had gotten dh an Ipod, and he got all kinds of Ipod stuff. And I got a hard plastic giraffe!!! That went in the trash too.

***?! I can't even begin to wrap my brain around this one. Did they think you missed the zoo or something???

I'm going with my belly dancing DVD from my in-laws this last Christmas. My philosophy is that you're born with it or you aren't; belly dancing isn't something that can be learned. Either way - BELLY DANCING?! Am I supposed to put on a sexy little show for DH???
[/b]
OMG to both of you!!!!! I'm howling!!!!! A giraffe and a belly dancing dvd? I am ROTFLMAO!

Just you wait...you might be getting this from your in-laws!

Oooh, that reminds me. I HATE getting books as gifts and don't you know my MIL is the one that gives them to me. The most recent was some feminist book. I skimmed it and about fell out of my chair when I read a part about how we (moms, wives) need to dress up every now and then to keep our SO's from "wandering." [/b]
Well my hubby is going to be wandering then because I always look like a slob around the house! White huge big T shirts (mens!) and a pair of shorts (sometimes boxers!) And sometimes the T shirts even have holes and stains in them! LOL! I see NO need to wear my good clothes around the house to clean in. Hubby calls me "scumberella" (cinderella)
LOL

Hmm would probably be clothes. I know it doesn't seem strange but my MIL buys me things SHE would wear, being 60-something years old. But she buys my daughter all sorts of cute trendy things (going to make another post about that here in a minute). So now I request gift cards for clothes so I can get my own things.

What my IL's do and have done even before I was part of the family is everyone makes up a list of things needed or wanted, sizes, colors, etc. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. My MIL has a thing about buying me BRIGHT make-up (I look best in earthy tones and she buys me pinks and reds) and really stinky perfume.

My MIL loves to get me anything purple since that is her favorite color. Its definately not mine!!!! She also thinks that since I wear flip flops all the time that I collect anything with flip flops on it ok so she got me these like dollar tree candles that are flip flops. So now Ive got x-mas lights with flip flops, candles, picture frames....on and on and on. I dont like flip flop things just because I wear them lol

Hmmmm. How about a calendar she made for me and SO at Christmas with a pic of him and his ex? I thought that was pretty tacky of her.

As for that Kama Sutra book - my sister bought a pop up one! lmao.

They usually don't get me anything. I always thought that was weird. My parents get Dh stuff from the first time he spent holidays with our family. They even at least acknowledge his birthday. Iw ouldn't be surprised if they didnt even know when my birthday is.
