Hello lovely ladies
How r u doing this morning?

I'm about to go see my doctor and i was wondering if anyone can tell me how long it take before ur doctor receives ur blood test results.
I had a blood test done a week ago and i doubt that the results will be in by now. However, she can tell the lab directly and ask for them but i also doubt she will do this.
I was alternating the dose of Synthoid for the last 4 weeks, 12.5 and 25 mg but for the last week im taking the whole 25 mg pill and - i feel good hehe
She still doesnt know tho, only my family doctor does,so if i find a way to let her know today,i will if not,i guess i will shut up about it since i have prescription for more than a year and getting another one wont be a problem.

Oh,well hehe i little rant early in the morning.
I'll update once i have the results.Pls wish my luck,i hope my TSH had dropped from 3.29 under 3 at least.. !!!

Have a nice day everyone

Lana

Most places say it takes about a week to get lab results, though it seems it is usually a bit quicker than that. I try to get my blood drawn at least 5 days before an appointment. Some tests, like antibody tests, will take longer.

I'm back from my doctor's appointment.Everything was fine with the baby but the darn TSH went up till 4 again.Every time i test in this lab i get the same result. If i go someplace else the TSH is lower. However, i will be taking the 25 mg for the next 3 weeks and will retest.
I asked to be given higher dose, but both my doctor and the other one i saw didnt want since my free T'3 were normal ( high normal )

They tried to convince me that there is no harm for my baby especially at 22 weeks since she's making her own thyroid hormone so i guess i will believe them.I just dont get how come i always get higher results in this lab.I really hope nothing will happen to my girl.. =/

My doctor keeps saying there is nothing to worry about the baby but its not what Google says lol

Honestly, what complications could happen if i dont lower my tsh? =/
Also, if it true that by now the baby makes her own thyroid hormone?

My endo says that the free T3 & T4 numbers are more important than the TSH. I'm on an antithyroid medication, and the last time I went to see her she lowered the dosage because even though my TSH was still reading low, my T3 & T4 had both gone into the hypo range. She told me that basically she can't do anything to control my low TSH if it's going to effect the free T's. How I can have hypo T's and hyper TSH is beyond me, but whatever So I would say don't worry about the TSH as long as the free T's are good.

Hey! Wow, your TSH keeps going up... kinda weird if your Free's are normal! I wouldn't worry if your Free's are at the upper end of normal... that's where you want them & yeah, they are more important than the TSH.

Oh, my lab tests take a couple of days to a week to come back. FT3, FT4, & TSH take a couple of days while the antibodies tests take about a week.

I am on 175 mcg of levothyroxin 2 times a day and yes thats a high dose but when we lower it I am no longer at 0..very frustrating I know for 5 years its been frustrating but its all a part of life and we have to have it to survive! Just keep your chin up!

Thanks for the replay.Im trying my best to keep my chin up,as u said, but its hard since i have no idea what this tsh elevation is causing to my baby. Thanks God i have a doppler so i can hear the hb.No strong movements/kicks yet and now the thyroid problem,it worries me a lot.

I couldnt get any higher dose of Synthroid nor referral for endo.. =/

Regarding labs...I will add this....when my family doctor tests my ANA and double stranded DNA for lupus it comes back positive...when my rheumatologist tests for this they come back negative...the 2 doctors use different labs....I asked my rheumatologist if it was positive wouldn't it always be positive and he said yes and can't explain it....there is always room for error....if possible try asking the doctor if they can send it to a different lab and see what happens with a different lab...

I'll try testing at another lab.
The first time i had blood test for TSH it came back 4.5.Couple of weeks later, without any medications i tested again, this time in a well known private lab which is one of the top labs here,it came back 3.99.3 weeks on Synthroid - the private lab result says 3.29.My doctor increased the dose and after 4 week of increased dose the TSH is 4.3 ( i tested in a public lab,coz i could afford the private one this time ).

I feel much much better now tho.No symptoms at all..I have no idea what to do.I think i will go in walk in clinic and ask for referral for endo (who probably wont even see me coz as u know many doctors dont start any therapy before the TSH reaches 10 at least =/)

However, thanks for the advice.I'll try going to another lab or the private one,to check back my TSH levels

Ditto! What's most important is if your Free T3 and Free T4 #'s are in the high end of normal. Not just normal. The TSH doesn't matter if those are right.

My doctor sent me for Free T4 and the result was 14.I wasnt told what's the lab reference range but I read that usually the free T4 is something between 1.something and 2? Im so confused..and im sure all this stress doesnt help my TSH as well..

Can you get a copy of the lab report so you can see exactly what is tested & are not taking your dr's word for it? That's what I'd do... I have a copy of every thyroid panel run on my since being dx.

Yep,I can do it.Well,in 4 weeks since i wont be seeing her earlier. However,i did see my results i just dont remember the normal reference range for the lab.

As soon as i see another doctor i will be asking for all the thyroid tests that r out there.I finally found out that an endo wont see me just coz my TSH is 4.Isnt considered hypo =/
