i got the call back from my doctor today..i have hypothyroidism (sp?)...there putting me on 75 mg of Synthroid aday..i still dont really know much about it..or about the side efforts..im nervous that something might happen to my baby..and cant help but blame myself for losing our last one
I know the feeling but you did nothing wrong!!! I highly recommend picking up Mary Shomon's book Living Well with Hypothyroidism... that'll get you started learning about hypo! BTW, I'm hypo too & you'll be fine. You've been dx, your getting treated, & it'll be fine. Several ladies on here have had successful pg's with Synthroid so don't worry though I know... easier said than done!
I'm not going to lie... bad things can happen... m/c, stillbirth, low IQ & other developmental problems when hypo goes untreated but when the problem is caught & treated the chances of any of these issues is the same as any other pg lady. In other words, you have no greater chance of any of this than any other pg lady with treatment, which you are getting.
I ditto Amanda. I'm sorry that you're joining us (another mama with hypo ) but glad you're here!!! As long as you treat it, you shouldn't have any worries. I developed autoimmune hypothyroidism (Hashimoto's disease) after Noah, so I was on meds during my whole pg with Oliver. Only worry when you go untreated.
