I have a high level of antibodies, but the rest of my thyroid labs came back fine. No history for me of thryoid issues. I am 10 weeks and worried to death now. The doc left a message for me and said that I would be getting a level 2 ultrasound in the next two weeks. I am really confused because I don't understand what the antibodies can do to the baby. Everything I have seen online is really scary and it is hard to not go crazy from the worry.
Anyone else had this experience? I would love to hear others stories and hopefully good outcomes.
Wow... I'm not really sure to be honest. I'm hypo but my antibody count is normal (or it is now anyway). If I'm not mistaken, Stacey was pg with her last with high antibodies. Of course she was hypo too so had to supplement with thyroid meds as well. I also think everything went reasonably well for her. Maybe she'll pop on here soon & can answer your questions better than I can.
I do know that supplementing with Selenium can reduce your antibodies though. Stacey & I have both supplemented & my antibodies came back down to normal. Not sure where her's stand at the moment. But you may want to talk to your dr about that since your pg & all.
I don't think it's much to worry about though but I do think you'll have to keep an eye on your thyroid... I think you can become hypo any day if your antibodies are high (which if you do become hypo during pg you'll be fine as long as they monitor it regularly & you take thyroid meds). I'll say a prayer for you & your bean. Please KUP on what happens.
My antibodies were a bit high with #4 but the doctor said it wasn't high enough to worry about. I know this probably isn't the best advice, but try not to read too much . The internet can be a scary place especially if you're pregnant. If there was something really wrong, your doctor would have called you right back in and not waited 2 weeks.
