The pharmacy is filling my Rx with the last 10 they've got (my Rx is for 60). I've been cutting my dose in 1/2 or 1/4, and so far, I'm alright. Little tired, but alright.

Fortunately, I have never had a problem with the supply & I do know that my dr is aware of the supply issues b/c when I started taking it we discussed it & he said that here in AL for whatever reason, he hasn't heard of hte supply issue being a real problem but he did also say if it ever does we can switch to nature-throid, no problem!

Supply issues aren't the only problem. The manufacturer has changed the filler and many patients aren't getting the same benefits from it like they used to before the switch.

It's not much different than Armour. I'd request it. Synthroid is the LAST thing I'd go on. I feel better now than ever... AND I've been dropping weight easily! I am about 15lbs away from my pre-pg weight with my oldest! I never thought I'd get to this.

I spoke too soon. ("traitor" ) My doc wants to switch me, too. If I can find it, that is! Apparently it's hard to find as well. They just told me on the phone that they (his office... him and his son) prefer them in the order: (1) armour (2) nature-throid (3) compounded armour (4) custom compound and only if you really have to, (5) synthroid.

*edit*

Can't get Nature-throid either. Gonna have to get armour from a compounding pharmacy ... which is totally in another direction from where I live and where my doc is. The round trip will take me about 2 hours.

I got it from a privately owned pharmacy downtown. Not a chain one. You should ask if they'll order it for you.

Nothing. It's only T4 however. Your body doesn't just produce T4 so you most likely will need to get a T3 supplement as well. Your body produces T4, T3, T2 and trace amounts of T1..... which Armour and Nature-throid have. Why take 2 pills when you can take one?

Nothing is wrong with it if you respond well to it but many patients need the additional T3 & don't respond to Synthroid only as well but many dr's tend to not listen! That's my issue... not with the medication per se but with the dr's refusing to prescribe anything BUT Synthroid.

they do compounded Armour??? Didn't know that either... Is it still natural dessicated thyroid hormone if it's compounded??? Or are they just compounding a T3/T4 combo? I'm a little confused.
