I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism yesterday (hopefully due to just having a baby)

My T4 was 1.9 and my TSH was less than .01

I had an ultrasound which showed no growths. I've had a lot of symptoms such as weight loss, hair loss, intolerance to heat and heart palpitations.

I was prescribed PTU 50mg twice daily and propranolol 20mg twice daily (I was given these because I'm breastfeeding)

I'm just looking for any advice and some ideas on what to expect!

I had hyper as well. After watching it for several months I ended up having to do radio iodine to take care of it. I had a large nodule on one lobe and 2 smaller ones on the other lobe. They have all shrank since the iodine....My main symptoms were anxiety and heart palpitations...well those were the worst...Oh, I also took an antithyroid pill for a while which controlled it but the dr. said you don't want to be on those for an extended period of time. Now I am just waiting to go hypo after the iodine....I feel hypo but the dr. says my TSH is just fine....grrrrr.....

I agree about not being on those meds for long. I recommend keeping an eye on it and if at the 1yr PP you are still hyper and need meds to reevaluate the situation and consider doing the iodine uptake.
