I can't beleive it's been 1 year exactly since my thyroid was removed...Here are some pictures for those who are interested.

The day I got out of the hospital, 2 days after my surgery

8 days post surgery, right after my stitches were removed (My one very long stitch)..It actually got darker after this, for a few months.

1 year later, scar looks good I think

ah memories LOL
I had mine out 2.5 yrs ago. Yours has healed nicely. Mine looks similar only mine is a little lighter and a little longer than yours.
Your first pic looks painful, i didnt have stitches in mine so maybe that is why mine didnt look as bad at first, they just put that sticky tape stuff on mine (maybe glue too not sure).
I wish mine was a little higher like yours is. Mine is lower near the base of my neck so it kind of looks weird when I wear a necklace. In all i think the scars arent that bad, at least they fade a lot.

The surgeon that did mine used the same stitch they use in pastic surgery, I think that's why it's healed so nicely...He also did it in the crease of my neck, so I think as more time goes by it wont show at all...The first picture i think looks worse than it was...I mean it was painful, but it was mostly just dry blood...that's what they put on right after my surgery, probably while I was still bleeding pretty bad...My scar has also gotten shorter too.

I was amazed at how quickly mine healed too. I thought it was going to take much longer but in like a week it just looks like a scratch.

Looks great today! I agree, that 1st one looks painful. This reminds me of my c-section.

Was this a painful surgery? How long did you take to recover? There is a chance I will have mine out.

Honesty, yes it was painful...I think about 8 days after my surgery I was feeling pretty good...I had so much happen after my surgery, I was pregnant, baby died just a week later, then I got really ill, so it's hard to say when I actually recovered...It was more painful than I thought it was going to be, and I had to take a lot of medication in the hospital and when I was home....It was hard laying down, I had to sit up to sleep, couldn't drive for a week.
