I've heard that before. I think it's because yellow is a very bright and active color. Whereas, baby blue is known to calm and help with concentration. They've done studies on this, my High School government teacher petitioned to get her room painted baby blue and she had to submit information and research...she won!

uh oh, the room that is going to be my nursery is already yellow and I was going to leave it that way because we won't find out gender. It's a very subdued yellow though!

Luckily the room that will be our DDs room is also baby blue. Lets hope shes calm and concentrated in there!!.

Here in spain all the classrooms are painted pale blue or green as its supposed to be soothing and restful.

well I thought I'd do a little internet search on it! heres what I got from two different websites:

"Yellow is associated with the sun. Yellow sheds light on our lives and helps us see things clearly. Bright yellow is energizing, but a pale shade won’t interfere with sleep"

from this website

AND

"Yellow - Yellow is actually quite popular in nurseries but not very good in terms of calmness. A bright yellow can actually cause anxiety and over stimulation in babies and children. If you want to create a calm environment, my suggestion is stay away from any shade of yellow in the nursery. If you really must have yellow then try to stick to one wall only."

from this website

When ds was born we painted his room yellow and did a Winnie The Pooh theme. He loved it! It looked great but everyone else hated it.
