Do you think a lip on the changing table is necessary? I like the lip but a contoured changing pad could do just as well, don't you think?

I am about to become a first time Mom, so not sure if I can help. BUT, I do not have a lip on my changing table. I am going to use the contour pad, which I think would be plenty good enough. If you had a flat pad, I would want the lip.

This may sound stupid, but what do you mean the "lip".

This is our changing table:

Does it have a lip and if so what part is the lip? I'm new to baby furniture

Yes that changing table has a lip! It's the decorative "border" that sticks up around the table to prevent the baby from falling.

This one doesn't have a lip

Ours doesn't. We have a long dresser that we attached the changing pad cover to. We used it the same way with our first daughter.

Now that I know what you're talking about, I think you'd be fine without a lip. I would never leave my child unattended on a changing table anyway, so I don't see it making much of a difference!

My changing table is a dresser with a flip down part on the top to make it wider and it really dosent have a lip. Depending on what way you have the changing pad. I have myne vertical and its a contoured pad and it works well. If I had my changing pad the other way there still wouldnt be any lip, just a big space. I honestly dont think it matters if you are attending to your child the whole time.
