I don't want to go with any sort of theme for the nursery. I just want a comfortable, baby / child friendly room. That said, I don't necessarily want things to clash either.

My friend gave me her glider and it's super comfy. I'd like to use it in the nursery, the only problem is that the cushions are a funky, tweedy, beige color. The simple solution is to pick up some fabric and make slip covers for the cushions. (Thank goodness I have a friend that sews.) I'm stuck on the color though.

We're not painting the nursery so the room will be a creamy white with forest green carpeting. The crib, changing table / dresser, bookshelf, and the frame of the glider are all a natural wood color that coordinate with the trim and doors in the room. I'm not planning to pick out any sort of bedding set, but I am looking to pick up some individual pieces in primary colors. For example, I like some of the pieces from this set: Dr. Seuss

If I do that, what color should I use on the chair? Denim Blue? Maybe a red corduroy? Or some neutral?

I know it probably doesn't matter, but I just want the room to be comfortable. I'm not all that big into decorating, but for some reason I'm stuck on this chair.

Id personaly go for either a neutral colour so people often have to change bedding for simple reasons; it gets ripped, dirty etc... & that way you'd have something to go with every bedding.

Failing that Id pick a blue, I personaly think red might be to harsh of a colour.

That makes sense, go with neutral so it matches with pretty much anything

Hi & welcome to the board! Personally, I'd go with the red.. just because I think vibrant colors really give them room some personality. If you were to change the nursery around you could always have another slip cover made. GL deciding!

Of course it matters- you will be spending a great deal of time in this chair, and it should be something you are happy with.
The Dr Seuss is an adorable set, and the bright colors will be so cheerful! I also like the idea of a nice rich red corduroy (I like deeper reds rather than the fire engine shades)- warm and comfortable. However, just read your post again- forest green carpeting with red covers might give you more of a Christmas theme than you would like, especially if the room is smaller.

So, depending on the size of the room, I would probably go with a bright yellow- a bright but light for the baby's room, and if it is a smaller room it might help make it feel a little more spacious than the deeper shades of red or blue. If it is a larger room, it will make it feel warm and sunny (my opinion- but yellow can be a tricky color). It would provide a good base color to work on, and add pieces in the bolder colors to accent.

We never had matching bedding- we had a few comforters in blue tones, but the sheets of the crib were never coordinated. Honestly, it didn't really matter much to me. For the most part everything else was coordinated, and i think that if you draw in the primaries with touches of green to tie in the carpet, you will have a fun room with lots of interest and personality.

Is there a color that you are drawn to first? You could set the chair up in the room and drape it with a towel or a swatch of inexpensive broadcloth to see if you would like it before you make that decision.

Sorry- this may not be much help! Best wishes with your decision- I look forward to hearing about it, and perhaps seeing a picture of the revamped chair?
