Well, I am baking another beautiful little girl, her name is Skyla Rose. Her and Dakota will be sharing a room!

Dakota is obsessed with Disney Princesses and that is what her bedding is. I was considering doing the bedding for this new baby the baby disney bedding, which is just crowns and castles, but since this is going to be a big change for Dakota, I don't want Dakota to feel like baby is taking over!

So how do you incorperate 2 seperate themes into one room? The room isn't huge, but its big enough for 2 dressers, a twin bed, and a crib, along with a nice sized closet. We can't paint the walls because we are renting.

Should I pick a basic theme for baby, like circles, dots, etc? I would of loved to have gone with a jungle theme but how would you go about doing that?

I would appreciate any suggestions!!

Maybe you could have Dakota help you, you could take her shopping for bedding and tell her she can pick out the bedding that she thinks Skyla will like, that way, if she does pick out the baby princess theme, it'll go with her room. But she can help so she doesn't think that the baby is taking over.

If you're worried about the room looking good if you have the money, maybe you could switch the whole theme to spots/stripes/anything you want. and get Dakota to change her bedding as well. It might be fun for Dakota to know that she and her baby sister will be using the same kind of bedding.

I agree about getting your little girl involved in the decision. My son is almost three and he was very involved in his new room and the baby's room (which was his room) and I think that helped make the transition easier because he felt like he was calling the shots. You may find that she loves the princess theme for her little sister too and then they will match!

Yes, getting DD1 in on the decision making would be a plus. I'd pick out 3-4 sets you like and let her pick. You could give her the choice between the baby disney set, a circle/dot/stripe set, and there are jungle sets in pink! I've listed four below. I think the pink in each set would tie the room together just fine to have two themes going.

Animal Crackers.

Bella (Elephants).

Tropical Rainforest.

Tropical Punch. This is my fave. It's got a koala bear and hippo - making it unique. And, it's colors are pink and orange - the letter making it unique. However, the pink and orange might not look good with the Disney Princess set for DD1 if it's pink and purple.

Maybe you could do Skyla's theme in frogs and keep Dakotas princess theme.....just an idea
