I am curious to hear how others have secured their moses baskets. My mother made a beautiful basket for our baby girl. I have a dog and want to keep the basket off the floor while we sleep at night. Then I get nervous about making sure that where we put her will be safe and secure so that she can't fall over.

I have seen the stands on the net for $50. Are these worth it or is there another way?

Oh, and our bed is not quite large enough for us both to sleep on it and keep the baby on the bed in the basket too.

This is the reason I opted for a bassinet instead of a moses basket, to keep it up off the floor. We also ended up using an Arms Reach Co-Sleeper because when Izzie was a few months old we found out that the bassinet was being recalled. If there isn't room in the bed, I'd invest in the stand. I wouldn't trust a piece of furniture like a table to sit it on.

Maybe you can just use the moses basket during the day, for naps, etc. and purchase a bassinet or a co-sleeper for the night?

We are going out this weekend to shop for a stand or something to secure the basket with. That being said, it seems you can find decent deals on co-sleepers and bassinets that run a little more than the cost of the basket stand. Le sigh. Thanks for the input! We might just have to get something for nighttime in the bedroom and use the basket for daily routine stuff.

You can buy a stand for fairly cheap online. Mosesbaskets(dot)com is a really great website because they have pretty much every color or wood finish you could ever want.
