How did you pick your baby's nursery theme? (What inspired you? Your favorite color? Fave animal? Fave hobby? Dh/SO got to pick it?)

I picked mine out b/c we are leaving a black futon in the Pypers room and I wanted everything to match so I went with the black, white and pink toile bedding set. I thought I could throw the blanket on the back of the futon and tie everthing in togther. I let Dh have a say so on it though.lol

My DD is the first grandbaby. My mom loves butterflies, so I wanted butterflies in the theme. We ended up going with a garden theme with butterflies, dragonflies, and flowers. The colors are black, red, cream/almost-white with a littlle bit of green and yellow. If we have another girl, I plan to keep most of DD's room the same, but I'm adding some LADYBUGS! I've just become so fond of the ladybug theme in the last year or so.

For DS, we went with a jungle theme. Animals are one of my favorite themes for a nursery. The set I chose for DS has my favorite animals - giraffe, elephant, monkey, tiger, and a cute, little frog. I also added some lion decorations to the room. The set is green, yellow, and khaki which I liked getting away from traditional blue.

Once you have taken care of the safety, comfort, cleanliness and all the basic necessities, you can focus on the aesthetic part of the room. The color co-ordination, usage of space, arrangement of furniture, the illumination of the baby nursery should all be gentle, pleasant and comforting for the baby. Make sure the curtains are such that they provide the right amount of illumination. Make sure you pick soft yet pleasant colors for the baby's room be it the walls, the curtains, the crib or any other furnishing in the baby nursery. Choose trendy themes and colors to make the baby nursery a fun place that the baby will enjoy.

my mom bought her jungle themed bedding at christmas time, because we found out her sex on december 23rd. it's called Cocalo Tropical Punch baby bedding. I like it a lot.
