Valance vs. (Floor-length) Curtain. Which do you prefer on the windows in baby's room?

Or, a valance that matches the nursery bedding but with sheers to the floor?

I like the valance that matches the bedding with the sheers to the floor. It usually is a elegant/classic look!

Just a valance is more practical. Drapery can be pulled and tugged on by your LO. I also think if you have drapery in a room it can make the room appear smaller. JMHO

I like the full-length curtain to keep the light out during the day for baby/child's naptime.

For both of my children's rooms, I had the valance that matched the bedding set and MIL sewed a coordinating solid color to the bottom of the valance (with the solid color going to the bottom of the window). I didn't use curtain rods because I wanted the curtain flush against the wall to block out all the light.

When the kids are older, I'll go with a valance with sheers underneath it (using curtain rods too).

I like a full length curtain best. I decided to go with a curtain that went just a bit past the bottom of the window though. That way I didn't have to worry about them pulling on it as babies but it blocked out the light so they slept better. I hung a valance that matched the bedding over the other curtain.
