Hi, ladies. My husband and I are looking into getting a convertible crib when we finally get pregnant and I wanted to know are they worth it? It seems like it would make sense to spend the extra for one if you can use it longer than a regular crib, but I'm curious as to whether they really work as well as they claim? We want one that goes from crib to toddler bed to single bed. Anyone had experience with these?

TIA

Kelly

from what i understand they are well worth the money- however you will want to invest in a good sturdy wooden or strong metal frame, not sure how many metal convertibles there are.
most people say they convert pretty easily and you will have to buy extras, like side rails to make it a bed, but it can be used well into their adulthood. would you like pictures, prices and brands? i can post a bunch

figured i'd go ahead and put these in here anyways, since i was going to start a thread on them! one thing i've noticed when looking at these, is i like to see pics of the bed actually converted...
this is my all time fave crib, i've already posted it elsewhere. babysdream is sooo sturdy, an adult can sit on the side rails and it holds up... so nice. davinci is pretty popular, you can find it in alot of baby stores and online. angel line is another popular one. most of these start at lowest, $250, and can go up to $800 with attachments. however you aren't ever going to buy another bed... so it's a pretty good investment. some even come with lifetime guarantees.

this one is called marcella :

this is angel line:

We have the BabysDream crib (Generation Next line) that is the first one pictured in lashlock's post. It truely is a wonderful crib, well worth the money. We will be converting it into a toddler bed very soon. We definitely wanted a convertible crib and thought it was well worth the money to spend on it.

Thanks you guys!

I've been shopping for them online and pricing them. I know some come with the side rail, some don't and I figured we'd be buying some additional stuff in the future. I also love the way most of them look and it seems well worth it to not have to buy another bed for years!!

We got one for our DD but she isn't big enough yet that we have converted it. We bought a matching dresser so the idea is that the furniture will be able to be used for a long time having the convertible.
