With DS2 I had DS1 draw a picture (teddy bear with yellow stars). I matted and framed the picture and hung it over the changing table. It was wonderful!
With DD I had both boys draw a picture. My youngest finger painted and stamped his picture. My oldest drew a flower to match the bedding. I bought a frame and matting for each picture.
My oldest two didn't help really but I did have Jake draw a picture when we did our bathroom (he was about 4). I think that' a cute idea & then frame it. Or they could help paint a shelf or the walls. Maybe even "donate" something of theirs for the new baby's room...
They did help with the painting, but again, it wasn't for a nursery at the time, we were just re-doing the spare room. Little did we know that Layla would soon be in that room, lol!
I didn't have help with "older children" because Brinlee is our first. However, I might let Brinlee help put things in the next baby's room... but I'll (and DH) be making all of the decisions as far as what theme, furniture, etc. It would be special to have something from the older children in the baby's room, like a piece of art or something special that they want to give to their new sibling.
That picture thing is a GREAT idea!!! Oh I am very excited about this, especially DSs, he is 5 and is really into drawing people right now so this will be perfect for him....and I am sure I can think of something for DD to draw too!!!
