I didn't purchase anything until I found out the gender. I waited to buy my crib until I was 7 months. I wasn't much into the baby bedding, so I just found some modern colored sheets at Target and now 1 year later, my daughter has NEVER slept in her crib.....which is okay with me. I think I waited longer than most people to buy things.

We also didn't purchase the bedding until we found out the gender. I didn't want anything unisex, that is why we waited.

Like my first son 9 years ago, I bought baby bedding for the crib for my second. Unlike my first son 9 years ago, I breastfed and co-sleep, so my second son has rarely used his crib, not once in the past year. So, basically, the crib set I got was a waste of money! His room is cute and will last for a couple more years, but for this babe I'm just going to use single crib sheets and the baby blankets I've been given if she/he even uses the crib. I got lucky with the crib, though! I didn't have spend any money on that as friends of ours gave it to us.

Once the babe is born and I know the sex, then I'll start buying things for the room. I'm in no hurry. I guess it takes three babies to get that way! LOL I was completely opposite when prego with my first!

LOL, I totally get what you're saying! I breastfed and co-clept with Layla so her crib didn't start getting used until she was 7 months, except for occasional naps. The boys never liked co-sleeping so they did use their cribs from the get- go.
But it doesn't matter, I just like decorating kids rooms so I always bought the sets! Especially when we found out #3 (and our last) was a girl.
