This is part of an e-mail exchange between my father and I.

I wrote him the other night unable to sleep, and extremely depressed and this is what I get slapped with in part of the e-mail when I needed support the most.

ME: I want to know why, if people claim there is a God, a fair one at that, that people like him can get away with such damaging lies.

DAD: This is a low blow and I am sure that it's another lie told by this low class, redneck, moron. If you don't believe that there is a God, you will find out the hard way.You think things are bad on earth. Hell will make your life on earth like Shangri-La.

*Scratching my head*

This is why I don't talk to my parents about religion, period. I am at a loss for words here.

What was your response to him?

My response was, in the future, if he wishes to convert people to his faith, this is not the tactic to use, lol.

Haven't heard his answer on that one yet.

Hmmm, someone using scare tactics to try to convert others.... are you surprised? Fear is the cornerstone of religion.

I don't think I would have even bothered with the conversation. There is no reasoning when it comes to someone like that, none what so ever.
Luckily I am able to discuss religion with my mom pretty peacefully. My sister would say something like what your dad did though.
