NPR is taking a poll based on Stephen Hawking's new book about spontaneous creation. Here's their question:
"Because there is a law such as gravity, the Universe can and will create itself from nothing. Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the Universe exists, why we exist. It is not necessary to invoke God to ... set the Universe going." (Excerpt via the Associated Press.)
What do you think? Could he be right? We'll keep this question open until midday Monday:"
It's very encouraging to see that as of right now, 57.8% of the votes on the NPR poll say Hawking is right, and 84.8% of the Guardian voters believe in gravity over god. However, is that just an indication that the religious are reading less? What does Fox news have to say about this? (*snicker*)
