So today is Connor's 5th birthday, but we had his party yesterday figuring that nobody would come if we did it today as they'd all be in church instead. Well his "girlfriend" and her dad came, DH already knew her dad a little bit as he taught some class that DH took in college, but I got an email from him through our atheist group on meetup.com today saying how we'd met at one of the meetings several months ago and neither of us made the connection apparently. He said that he and his wife are both atheists, and they chose the preschool based on the same principle we did: no religion taught. And he'd like to get our kids together to play more in the future. Not only do I already adore this little girl (they've been buds since they were in class together last year) but I'm so excited to hear that her parents are like-minded... a real rarity in Mississippi! It makes me wonder how many other children are at that school for the same reason, it really is the only one in the area where Christianity won't be preached to them. What a coincidence though, huh?
