This will be our first christmas as a family, and we will be celebrating with extended family, putting up a tree, exchanging gifts. It's really not any different than what I did growing up in a religious family, we just won't be putting up a nativity scene or going to church. These days, it's pretty darn easy to take the "christ" out of christmas.
Happy Humanist mommy of one!

We do but it's not religious in any way. It's pretty exactly how we did xmas when I was child: tree, decorations and lights on the house, cookies for Santa, presents...My son is still too young to get any of it but I still do it because I love it.

My five year old doesn't know the Jesus/Mary story yet but we do trees, ornaments, gifts, carols, all that good ol' USA stuff. Religion just hasn't come up yet, so I must be doing something right. I'd like to do Bible as Literature someday but my older kids had some pretty bad experiences so I'm kind of overprotective of the little and give simple explanations like, "Oh, that's a club that X's family belongs to and they like to do things with other people who belong to the same club. Let's see if Y can come play instead."
