Do you think an atheist would ever have a shot of being president in this country?[/b]
I doubt it... for sure not for decades.
Has the current administration had any effect on your (non) beliefs?[/b]
Not really, it is more the other way around. My beliefs have changed my impression of the administration. I was a Christian and voted for Bush in the last two elections. I now wish I hadn't (not that Gore would have been my first choice either).
YES! I think it would be fabulous to get an athiest in office. A free thinker. Someone who can look at the facts and judge things for themselves. Someone who isn't affraid to admit they are athiest. I am sure some political canidates are. My husband and I actually had this discussion this morning (funny) because we were looking at all the politcal signs up around our town, he said "I could never run for an office because i would have to lie and say I was Christian to get anywhere. And I would have to go to church for all those photo shoots and pretend." It is sad isn't it?
I don't know that any canidate has to be of a particular poltical party (except no republicans!!!!!) hee hee but that they have a good stance on issues.
The current administration has further cemented my beliefs or lack there of. It is really frightening what this good Christian nation is heading toward.
