an atheist or agnostic try to "convert you"? Or seen one trying to convert someone else. Or have you tried? Have you noticed that us non-believers don't try to push our (non) beliefs on anyone else? I was talking with a friend of mine about never feeling discrimated against as an agnostic and she said "well that is because you don't flaunt it or try to get anyone to not believe right along with you." Wouldn't it be funny if right along with the 700 club, they had the 900 club with televangelist athiests trying to swindle money out of gray haired old ladies? I have just noticed as a group we are pretty happy with the way we are and don't really have the need or desire to get everyone else to believe the same thing we do. Maybe we are just comfortable enough with it we don't need the agreement of everyone around us.

Except on a debate board, then people feel like we are pushing our beliefs, but really that's the only acceptable place (seems) to talk about how we feel about religion.

I have myself felt a little weird about being an atheist at certain things. Like this group of moms I meet with, meets quite a bit at a church. And whenever they have special meets they go to this really beautiful place that just happens to be a Christian retreat. It's not a religious group, but I am sure I am the only atheist, and I am pretty darn sure I won't be talking about religion with them.

No, I've never had an atheist or agnostic try to convert me, but that might be due to the fact that I don't know any atheists. This is the 1st time I've ever met a whole group of non-believers. Anyway, I wonder if we wouldn't see more of that if we weren't in the minority -- and a very small minority at that.

I have had some good discussions with believers. I wasn't trying to convert them, but when you denfend your viewpoints and contradict their views, it can tend to look like you're trying to convert them. I was trying to get them to see my point of view. I try to be respectful, but it's really hard not to take offense when someone disagrees with your most important beliefs.

Something I've noticed is that for a lot of religious people, God is their life! They say prayers throughout the day and God guides them on everything they do. They can't imagine a life without God and many say they wouldn't want a life without God.

Atheism isn't my life. I honestly don't think about it that much.

I don't know if this would be called trying to "convert" a believer - but I do have an atheist friend who likes to get people of faith to question what they believe in. She is very informed about Christianity and likes to point out all the ways it is "wrong", especially to Christians. I'm not sure she is trying to convert anyone, she just likes to debate things.

On the opposite, I have an Apostolic friend that is always trying to convert me.
