From an article in Free Inquiry magazine:

Unfortunately, I live in one of those states. What are the real odds of ever getting these changes accomplished without having a lot of people rallying behind the cause? Should people just be complacent and adopt a don't-ask-don't tell policy w/regard to their religion when runing for office?

What are your thoughts?

.... symbolism matters. Constitutional clauses denying full political privileges to the nonreligious (and others) enshrine bigotry in an unwelcome historical reverence.
The second answer is that, while these clauses may be unenforceable today, they may not always remain so.

Especially in a new world of fear.. these laws are pitiful and fuels discrimination.. It's so sad.
