Just wondering how many atheists/agnostics feel that adding their voice in an official manner such as supporting organized groups is worth their time/efforts.

I have only recently joined one such group, in hopes of rallying some local support for like-minded folks here in my small (small small) town. I'm tired of only having web-support. I'm curious to see the opinions of those here.

I'd definitely consider it if I could actually find any! No clue where to look though - and I don't think that there's a lot of that around where I live. I basically live in a small central-oregon city surrounded by mountains that has a different church on every freaking corner.

Closest thing I've seen is one Unitarian Universalist church - but I'm really not a church person... at all.

I have thought about this too. I always think maybe when it’s cold out and there is not much else to do I will get involved with that.

I think organizing atheists is probably a lot like herding cats.

I think so too, that's why I think it's important to have other secular groups that have a focus other than just the disbelief of god.

Like Humanists actually have an agenda while there is no philosophy behind atheism.
