Atheists believe there is no higher power. Agnostics, on the other hand, say there might be, there might not be - there is no way to know.

Gnostic "to know" and Agnostic is "to not know".
Agnostics basically say that it's possible it's true, but also possible it's not. There is no way for us to know if it is or not.

While an Atheist basically just does not believe it's even possible.

It's possible to be both. I'm an agnostic atheist myself -- it just means that while I don't believe anyone can truly have knowledge of a deity or deities, I don't really think there are any.

I call it the default position.
