So I know we have only been trying for 5mths but when is it time to see a Dr to get some test run? I would hate to be wasting time when there is a problem somewhere. Like maybe DH has a low sperm count or maybe its something with me. What types of test are run to make sure everything is working? Will Dr's do this time of testing if it hasnt been a year? I just dont want to waste a year when we could know now if there is something wrong that maybe we can fix.

Are these types of testing expensive?

Thanks

It is recommended to wait at least a year for healthy couples before seeing a fertility doctor.... most doctors wont even check you until then, however if you are charting and know something is up like say you aren't Oing then you can usually convince them sooner or if you were having a problem.

I know 5 months seems like forever... but it takes most couples 6months to a year to conceive.

If you are under 35 most doctors won't even consider testing until 1 year. After 35 then they will start testing at 6 months.

I would wait 1 more month then have your hubby's sperm tested. If everything is ok with him, then you may want to check yourself. I know the average amt. of time for someone my age (32) to get pregnant is nine months.

I would wait until you'd been TTC for at least a year, it's hard but sometimes it just takes time Good luck hun

I would make sure your thyroid (since I know you have hypo) is optimal or as optimal as it can be first. Of course if you see an RE he/she may be able to help with that. It has taken me a year to find a good dr & he JUST cleared me to TTC again! Good luck with your TTC journey!

most dr's won't even consider testing till you've tried for a year. but you never know you might find someone who will help you sooner. it's worth the "ask"!!! G/L

I agree. Some DR will run some of the simple blood tests if you haven't been trying for a year. I would ask your DR and see if they will. I know that my RE wanted you to be TTC for a year before doing the other tests. We have been seeing him for 6 months now. He has done everything for us and is wonderful. Good Luck!!
