Hi everyone!! My DH and I are TTC starting this month. I'm 27 (DH is 29) and we've been married for 4.5 years. We definitely feel like it's the perfect time to start trying for a baby especially since we just built a new house that has plenty of room for little ones.

I will admit... I'm a little stressed over this whole thing. I was on the pill for 13 years, went off in June since DH was working out of state and we rarely saw eachother. My cycle has been all over the place ever since.. the last 2-3 months, it's been averaging around 40 days.. which is a long time! I was like clock work on the pill (28d). I'm hoping my cycle is trying to regulate itself out.

Since this is our first month, I'm not sure how often we should BD. I've heard that you don't want to do it too much or it could have a negative impact on his sperm count.

I am going to continue to pay attention to OPKs & CM, but I think we might BD as frequent as needed starting tonight... just to make sure we hit it.

Hi! I'm Pamela (24), DH is Sean (32), and we have a DD named Ava (3). Welcome to the JM TTC board!

I understand about having a long cycle. You think 40 days is long!? Try anywhere from 45-60. Consider yourself lucky! By the way, the reason you had a period every 28 days like clockwork when you were on BC is because of the BC itself. The 'period' we experience on BC is really just 'breakthrough' bleeding. Once you take the last 'active' pill, it tells your body to bleed. Most people will have normal 28 day cycles on the pill. Don't be surprised if you find that you have irregular cycles for a while. BC can do that, especially if you were taking it for 13 years. Your body is trying to get use to bleeding on it's own, as well as ovulating for the first time in many years!

As far as BDing, I would say do it at least every 3 days until your fertile period (the 5-6 days before O), then you can start doing it every other day or every day for those few days. Do you chart your temperatures? It's a great way to make sure that your body is actually Oing. We can still get pos. OPKs even if we're not Oing. The body can gear up to O and be unsuccessful. I recommend spending the $10 for a Basal Body Thermometer and beginning to chart your temps every day when you wake up. Most of us on the TTC board swear by it.

I hope your stay here is short and sweet! Please feel free to ask us anything. There's nothing we haven't heard or experienced before. GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Hi and welcome to the board! As far as bding (baby dancing), you can't do it too much. Unless you have been specifically told by a doctor not to there is no reason to not bd. In fact bding more will help you. I would definitely use OPKs and CM as a guide. Charting is good too, but really not necessary unless you are trying to confirm ovulation or timing. I usually recommend people try OPKs for a couple months and then if that's not working try charting to see if you are mistiming things. Once you get a positive OPK you should bd the day of a positive OPK and for the following 2 days as well. If you can hit all 3 of those days you really increase your chances of getting pregnant. Good luck to you and hope to see you around the boards!
