Hi everyone. I don't post much on here but I read the board everyday. For the ones that don't remeber my DH and I have been TTC since October. I know that I can get pregnant (I had and accidental pregnancy on the pill and miscarried about 3 yrs ago) But we're not sure about my husband. I'm going to the OBGYN on the 30th for my yearly check-up. As of yet she dosent know that we are trying, so I will fill her in about that. Will she do anything else or just tell us to keep trying?? I'm starting to worry since I became pregnant so easy before ( on the pill) and now no pill and trying and nothing.
Most dr.'s will tell you that you have to try for a year with no success before they will suggest any sort of fertility testing/treatment.... so she will probably just ask you a whole lot of questions... give you a bunch of advice on the do's and don'ts of ttc and then tell you to contact her if you have no success by a given period.
My advice to people who want to get checked out sooner is... tell them you have been ttc for longer than you have. If you've been trying since October... when she asks you when you started trying... tell her, oh something like July or August!
That gives you only a few more months before she might be willing to talk about testing.... but wouldn't sound as suspicious as if you said March or April....
I scheduled an appt with my doctor for just a "consultation". I explained that I had had a m/c 5 yrs ago, that I am getting older, have ovulatory problems, and my dh is diabetic. I showed her we had a few things working against us. I said I wanted to get on the "fast track" of ttc. I didn't want to waste a few months of "trying", I went off the pill in Oct 03 and no luck. But, explained we were'nt really trying then.
She immediately ordered clomid and scheduled ultrasound appts to check my follicles.
So, not every doctor will tell you to wait. Just explain your desires and they should be willing to help you get started quickly.
