I called this morning and told the receptionist that I needed an order for blood draw and the phone nurse hasn't called me back and i've called twice and she said she was sorry and asked what my name was. I told her and she remembered me from having my son and asked how he was then she said does it need to a blood test and i told her it really didn't matter, just whatever they needed in order to get my 1st appointment set up. So I go in today at 2pm for a pregnancy test through the doctor! I kinda wish i'd told her I wanted a blood test so I could hear what my beta's were but oh well. Pray their test comes back positive! Which it more than likely will, I doubt 9 test are wrong lol.

So the visit didn't really go as planned BUT i don't have too many complaints. I went back and the medical assistant(I think) asked if I just needed a urine test and I told her that i'd like to have a blood test so I can know what my betas are but that I didn't HAVE to have one. She asked if i had tested at home and I told her I had taken 9 so then she asked if I had talked to the nurse and I explained about how I had called twice and she never called me back. Then we went and got the nurse who said if I had taken 9 test and didn't get any negatives then there was no reason to get a blood draw and that they didn't even need to do a urine one because that many positives Obviously i'm pregnant. She said she'd make sure to call me this evening to set up my 1st appointment. I'm kinda ok about them not doing a test but I really hope she calls me. Idk why I just couldn't set up the appointment while I was there

I am sure it'll come back positive . You can ask for a Beta draw when you go, there should not be an issue.

Great news! I am so jealous of you girls getting Beta draws! Here in Canada they will only do Beta tests if there is reason for concern. They do a simple pregnancy test, and do blood work to check for everything else...but not a beta test. Even if you ask!

Good luck this afternoon, and KUP!!!

That is just strange... it is your money and your insurance I don't understand why they won't just send you for something that is going to put your mind at ease. UGHHH! It also makes absolutely no sense that she couldn't set up your first appt while you were there either, now you have to wait for her to call you?

Oh I know right. I love the office just don't care much for this woman. She did call though! Which I was suprised and happy about. My 1st appointment is March 5th, and 4 weeks away! They will do an u/s then to confirm pregnancy and all the other good stuff. I'm sure i'll probably pee on a couple of more sticks until then lol

I'm sorry if I'm stepping on anyones toes by posting about this and my other pee sticks. I am so used to posting here and I'm not quite ready to completly leave all of you I promise to not post so much and i'm sorry if I have upset anyone. Not saying I have just don't want to hurt anyones feelings or anything.

I feel the same way... I don't think the girls mind though; they told me I could post as many pee stick pics as I wanted. lol.

I don't understand why you couldn't just set up an appt while you were there either.

My nurses always act like it's an inconvenience or they don't know why I want a beta drawn when I go... You said exactly what DH always says; we are paying them so I don't understand what the big deal is! Oh well, I am excited to hear about your appointment!!

My MW and DR's office doesn't make you come in for a confirmation, either. They said that the HPTs are pretty reliable now, so that you just call and set up your first appt when you get your + test and miss the cycle. I kinda wished they'd brought me in early for betas and then for an early u/s, but trust me, now that I just went for my first appt at 9w2d, it was amazing. I was relaxed the whole wait, I didn't have any numbers to stress over and analyze, and by the time you go in, at 8w, they'll be no question on the u/s. You'll see baby and HB clearly. No worrying if you go in too early and only see the gestational sac and no yolk sac, etc. It's just better all around to wait it out, if you can. I've done it both ways...I had some spotting with DS2 and had to go in at 5wks....saw gestational sac and that was it...had me so scared b/c there should've been a yolk sac! The whole week wait for my next u/s at 6wks was agony..but the tech said she must've missed the yolk sac somehow at my first b/c there was baby and hb! It made me stress for nothing!!!

Can't wait for your U/S and to see the pics of your little gummy bear! (DH and I just think it sounds cuter and squisher than bean...LOL...plus at 8-9wks, that's the size it'll be for your first u/s)

Oh yes gummy bear sounds ALOT better
With DS I didn't go in until 9wks but I didn't find I was pregnant until 6 1/2wks along so I didn't have to wait so long. I have no idea what an ultrasound beofre then is like since I've never been to one. My sister went at 7 wks with both of her kids and like you said there wasn't much there, couldn't even hardly see the fetal pole. I just hope these next 4wks flies by!
