Sometimes I wonder if there is any EWCM left in me some cycles… b/c each fertile window I have BOATLOADs of this mess, and it makes me wonder if there’s any left inside me, you know, to carry the merry little men on their way??

Anyone else have boatloads?? And is that normal, or could it be a hormone off somewhere? Anyone else have this prob? I need to know I’m not the only one producing an army of glob over here.


Also, my #2 rant… Anyone else have a tough time deciding what is really EWCM after you BD? I mean, to me, you have 4 types of squishy going on…

1. There’s the semen
2. Then, there’s YOUR arousal fluid
3. Next, is the preseed
4. And finally EWCM

What the crap, how do you know for sure??? I know that EWCM is supposed to stretch, and too, if it’s in the toilet it floats… and semen usually looks like stringy stuff that breaks apart (OMG, and smells like bleach – Anyone else’s DH’s stuff smell like bleach??)… I know all that, but just curious if anyone else can tell the difference btwn all 4 types of squishy.

Kinda reminds me of a quote from Disney’s ‘Finding Nemo’ movie. "I shall call him 'Squishy,' and he shall be mine, and he shall be my Squishy."

I would imagine there is probably ewcm to help carry the swimmers, some cycles I get a lot of ewcm, like gross amounts and other cycles I only get a little. But I am sure it's normal to have lot's of it and probably preferable by most RE's. I was actually reading FF the other day about a Dr that helps women get pg but he does not prescribe fertility drugs, do IUI or IVF he simply goes by your cm, and from there can see what the issue is, he helps you make more ewcm. So it is a good thing. On the other, I gave up on trying to figure out the differences between sperm and ewcm, preseed or anything else lol.

I have a very hard time telling it all apart. I swear I have had EWCM for about 5days, but then I wonder if I am just being hopeful and I can't tell the difference (I like tho think this is not the case but TTC makes me a nutjob so sho knows).

Also I like to sing Just keep swimming, just keep swimming to myself after BDing (if I did it aloud DH may commit me lol).

Finding Nemo = TTC. Who knew.

Semen does have a certain smell to it. Ok, this may sound gross, but after BDing I prop myself on a pillow and lay in bed, sometimes with my feet up for at least 30 minutes--I know 30 isn't required, but it makes me feel good to do so. Sometimes, some of the fluid leaks out of me and onto the pillow. After I get up, I have checked to see if it's semen or pre-seed. I always hope that the good/healthy swimmers have already swam to their destination and what remains on the pillow is the liquid they live in or the slow swimmers.

Idk what to tell you about the boatloads of EWCM but it sounds like it'd be a good thing. I usually don't have too much, mainly just watery. The way I tell semen from EWCM is that IMO semen is more runny then EWCM is. And I usually wait 12hrs after DTD before checking. Also, yes my DH's semen smells of bleach LOL

For preseed vs CM- preseed is clear and runny whereas EWCM is thicker and (at least for me) not completely clear. But yeah, I always had a hard time knowing for sure. And it all mixes together, so who can really know?

Also, Michelle, I usually have TONS of EWCM when I O. Like, TMI, change your undies multiple times in a single day. Copious amounts of goo. I've always been under the impression that more is better when it comes to EWCM.

As for telling EWCM and swimmers and PreSeed and... yech... other secretions apart, I give up! Ha ha!

Yeah for me CM is sticky/tacky/ even cloudy and gooey...EWCM is clear and you can stretch it between fingers...I get this for a few days before I "O" then right after "O" it dries up. I don't use preseed or any lubes so Idk about that. But YES my DH semen smells bleachy too! So weird!!

I think semen sticks to but on the other hand I hardly get any ewcm some cycles which I dong know if that's the problem and taking so long to get pregnant x

I get tons of Egwcm for days... Last cycle I seriously didn't know where it was coming from.
I do think DHs stuff smells gross... I think bleach is pretty close.

As for telling everything apart... I give up

Okay, I'm new to this and still trying to figure out the EWCM stuff and when is the best timing and all of that as well.

But, for my New Year's resolution this year, I've been posting one random fact on Facebook a day. And as it turns out, fact #69 is "Why does semen sometimes have a bleach-like scent? It's due to the chemical spermine, a natural disinfectant that buffers the sperm against vaginal acids."

Just thought I'd fill you in
