My Dr just put me on some progesterone 100mg pills and told me to start taking them on CD 14 which was fine and I did but my question is how does that effect my ovulation? My cycles have been irregular lately so they only way I could really tell when i O'd was by my temp but now that I started taking the meds my temp was obviously up that next mornin and has stayed up. So I dont know if i really o'd the day before and my temps would have spiked anyways or if the temp was only up because of the medicine. And if i didn't o on the 15th and was going to naturally o on the 20th (like I have been) would the medicine still let me or would it cause my period to start if not pg. I am so sorry if this is really confusing. If anyone has any advice please let me know. Thank u so much in advance.

What was his reason for having you take the pills? If it's for pregnancy then I am surprised he had you take them so soon, I take 400 mgs a day but not until ovulation is confirmed, I start at 3 dpo, if you start to early it can prevent ovulation, seems like he's going with the "everyone ovulates on cd 14" idea, which is not true. I don't have a period while on prometrium, I test at 11,12 dpo and if it's bfn I stop taking the pill and let my period start, usually takes me about 3-4 days after I quit the pills to start af.

Thank you for that understanding. My Dr definitely knows we r TTC and she wants to help but sje said with my periods being so crazy and i had a MC it must be my hormones so to start this and if i get pg then continue taking them until I was to see her for the first pg appt. She also prescribed clomid and estrogen but i was already to far in my cycle to start those that she said I could go ahead and start the progesterone this month and if it works great if not use all 3 meds. Now I am sad that i may not have o'd at all then. I did get a positive OPK but maybe it was wrong and this was our first time trying pre seed too :-(

It's still possible you O'ed, I have seen chart on FF where the lady took prometrium on ovulation day and still O'ed. But most Drs will tell you not to take it until O is confirmed, that way there's no concern of stopping ovulation. Did she give you any direction or when to use clomid or estrogen?

So say I'm on the medicine for 2 days already, does that mean once I started the medicine I most likely or won't o? She said start clomid on days 3-7 and estrogen 8-14 or estrogen then clomid (sorry don't have my prescription with me) then start progesterone cd 14 . Maybe she meant cd14 if I was taking everything according to her prescription although I did ask if i could go ahead and start the progesterone this month since I was too late for the others and she said that was fine.

it's possible you are on a low enough does to still O, I m on 400 mgs a day so it might actually stop me from Oing if I take them too soon. Are you charting or anything? Maybe start charting if you are not already that way you can confirm O, even using opks is not a good indicator of when or if you Oed since that only tells you that you geared up to O but not that you actually did O. With ds I was only using opks and I would get 2 days of +'s then I would start taking the prometrium about 2-3 days after the last +, that would put at around 2-4 days from ovulation.

If you keep taking the progesterone you won't get your period -- your period happens when progesterone drops. What I'm wondering, though, is why your doc had you start on day 14. It would probably be better to start the day you O or the day after -- which of course isn't always day 14. Like Grace said, you want to take them after ovulation is confirmed. If you get pg you keep taking them until your second trimester (I took them with DD #2). If you're not pg you stop taking them and get your period.

What other way can I confirm O? U thought it was my bbt but i don't know if the was changed because of the med. I have my chart above my signature if u wouldn't mins looking at it!

I just looked at my prescription and it says to take them days 14-27 , so thats ok right?

Did you have a + opk on cd 14?

No it was the brightest most positive on day 16
