So, we just got back from the grocery store...DH takes the car to work durring the week so we go together on Sunday afternoon. Last month, as some of you my remember, I had an episode where DH was at work, and I convinced myself I was pregnant, and he wouldn't bring me a test because he was convinced I wasn't. (I wasn't, but that's not the point)
So, I asked him to stop at the drug store so I could get a few things....I got shampoo and mascara...two three packs of pregnancy tests, and some baby wipes. When I came to the cart, he looks at me like I'm crazy. He says "I understand the pregnancy tests, but whats with the lotion?"
I didn't even realize I grabbed baby lotion....I was smelling it, like my baby fever crazy brain always does when I'm at the store and there is baby stuff....I smell everything like a phycho person. I look down at my cart, and belive it or not, I ended up at the cart with a whole basket full of baby essentials. Little booties, lotion, bedtime bath bubbles....even a pack of bottles! I swear, I honestly had NO IDEA I was putting those things in my basket.
It was so embarassing, and DH has been laughing at me all night. LMAO.
Hopefully he'll forget about it soon....But I have a feeling that I'll never live this down....he's already called his sister and mom and told them about how crazy I am.

Omg, that's so funny and cute! Don't worry, girl, we all do things like that to a certain degree. I've been really trying to hide how baby crazy I am because I don't want to put extra pressure on hubby since we've been trying for over 6 months and sometimes he feels like it might be his fault. Poor thing. But the other day, I went to Walmart and I was like "I just need to be crazy and look at the baby stuff for a few minutes". I walked through the 3 aisles like 3-4 times each for about 10 minutes, but I could have stayed there for an hour and filled my cart. I SO wanted to buy stuff, but he would have really thought I was crazy. I kept apologizing saying "I'm sorry, I just really wanna look. It's so cute! I promise I won't take that long..." xD Poor guys, they really put up with our craziness.

I hope we all get our BFP's soon.

Ahhh, the subconscious at work! I love it!

Cyndi, you're not crazy! You just like being prepared! I still advocate using baby lotion on yourself, that way you can get your baby fix without appearing too out there (aside from constantly smelling your own arms, that is).

Hahahah I know the feeling....DH is quite a bit older than me, so he gets pretty self concious about me not being pregnant yet, and we've been trying off and on for almost two years. But I didn't realize I was doing it and was so embarrassed! hahahahaa Hopefully we do get our BFPs soon so we wont feel so crazy!

I tried that excuse and he laughed harder then when I walked up with a basket full of baby things. I use baby wipes instead of makeup remover and sometimes take one out just to smell it. Crazy much? baahahahaha

I'm just happy I can come here and tell my ebarassing crazy baby fever lady stories. At least there are SOME people who understand me!! hahaha

Oh my gosh! I posted this exact same story about 2 weeks ago!! I LOVE the smell of baby! I was in the store a couple weeks ago and made a B-line for the baby aisle and started sniffing everything I could get my hands on. DH just shook his head and walked the other way

I totally understand your need to smell the baby stuff! I can't get enough of it!!

That is such a cute story, Cyndi!!!

They have body spray that smells like baby lotion, you should buy some, then you can smell like a baby any time you feel like without feeling like you're psycho. I think we have all done something similar before. Baby fever makes us do some crazy things. lol

Cynthia - I just read this and had a good laugh (sorry, at your expense) but I have a funny similar story so you can laugh at me.

I am a little old fashioned (brought up in the "you don't mention you're in the female way until the 8th month so you don't jinx the pregnancy") so when we were expecting our son we didn't buy a STITCH until I could barely waddle down the aisle at the store.

One morning about 6 AM I woke in a cold panicked sweat and started crying uncontrollably because we didn't even have diapers and I was about 34 weeks (when you get older, you don't have the baby shower until about 3-4 weeks before the baby is due, just in case something HORRIBLE happens - sick I know, and even then there's always someone at the shower who relays their terribly sad story to you and makes you nuts).

So I ran out to the store and bought 1 package of diapers, 1 outfit, 1 bottle.... HAHAHAHA if the baby had been born that day, those things would have lasted me about an hour!!!!!

OK, so here's another story to make you laugh. We decided not to have another baby after our son - long story, medically I couldn't. Anyway deep down I really wanted another child so I secretly stashed all the baby stuff in the attic just in case. Alot is still there, probably not even good.

Now that we were given clearance to TTC by my umpteen docs, I have to find a way to haul it all back little by little so DH doesn't notice. Let me tell you, 4 yr old half - chewed sippy cups are just nasty! I slipped them into the recycling about 3 months ago and he's none the wiser!

And here's a tip. Shampoo, lotion and other beauty products including wipes have an expiration date - so as much as you want to indulge, don't. They'll be no good for you and especially your baby once they arrive. Baby bottle nipples and pacifiers too don't last. They get dry.
